ELITE Construction Partners with The City of Waco for the Doris Miller Community Center

Waco, Texas – ELITE Construction partnered with the City of Waco and completed a comprehensive renovation of the Doris Miller Community Pool. The grand opening ceremony was held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, to celebrate the new facility and its importance to the Waco community.

The event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Mayor Jim Holmes, Councilperson Andrea J. Barefield, and Director of Parks and Recreation Johnathan Cook, all of whom expressed their appreciation for the quality and impact of the work. “We hadn’t had a pool in this community in over 20 years, so we are excited to offer up opportunities to learn how to swim, to learn how to be safe in water,” said Council Member Barefield.

The ceremony also highlighted the collaborative effort between ELITE Construction and the City of Waco, with Michael Collins, ELITE Construction’s Senior Project Manager, and John Rose, the City of Waco Parks Manager.

The Doris Miller Community Center Pool is Waco’s first public pool in nearly two decades. ELITE Construction undertook a variety of tasks to bring this project to life. This included ensuring the facility met ADA compliance standards and modernizing the heating and ventilation systems. The team also completed essential repairs to the pool system to enhance both functionality and safety, upgraded the steel decking, and more.

The pool officially opens to the public on January 27, 2025. It will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, with swim classes scheduled to begin at a later date. For more information about hours and fees, visit the Doris Miller Community website.
